🎓 Student Desk Expert Guide: Securing Your 2027 Space
Applying to CUT is free, but it is competitive. Here is how to ensure your application is successful:
- The “No-Fee” Rule: Applying to CUT is 100% free. Do not pay any “consultants” or “agents” who claim they can secure you a space for a fee. Only use the official
cut.ac.zaportal. - Selection Tests & NBTs: For certain competitive programmes (like Design and Studio Art or Engineering), you may be required to write a selection test or the National Benchmark Test (NBT). Check your specific programme requirements early so you don’t miss these test dates.
- The Points Gap: Aim for more than the minimum Admission Points (AP). For example, if a Diploma requires 27 points, having 30 points significantly increases your chances of being accepted during the first round of offers.
- Residence Application: Unlike other universities, CUT includes the residence application inside the main academic application system. If you need on-campus housing, ensure you tick the “Residence” box before you hit submit.
