🚀 Student Desk Expert Insight: Why the Mossel Bay Refinery?
Mossel Bay is home to the world’s third-largest GTL refinery. Here is why this specific location is a career-maker for engineers:
- Technical Complexity: You won’t just be doing paperwork. You will be exposed to complex chemical engineering, rotating equipment, and advanced control systems that are unique to the petrochemical sector.
- The “GIT” Status: Unlike a general internship, a “Graduate in Training” title at PetroSA is highly respected in the mining and energy industries. Completing this program makes you a “prime hire” for companies like Sasol, Engen, or even international firms.
- Relocation Readiness: The programme is based in Mossel Bay. If you are from Gauteng or KZN, you must be prepared to relocate. The coastal industrial hub offers a unique work-life balance, but the technical standards are world-class.
