VUT uses an Admission Point Score (APS) to screen applicants. Understanding how to calculate your score (excluding Life Orientation) is the first step to a successful application.
- Maths Literacy vs. Pure Maths: VUT is very specific about Mathematics. For example, in Information Technology, if you have Mathematical Literacy, your APS requirement jumps from 26 to 28.
- The “Extended” Lifeline: If your APS is slightly lower than the requirement for a mainstream Diploma, look for the Extended Programme options. These add an extra year to your studies but provide more foundational support and have lower entry requirements (often an APS of 22).
- The Application Fee: Unlike some universities, VUT will not process your application until the proof of payment for the application fee is uploaded. Do not skip this step.

How to Apply Online for VUT 2027
Applications are strictly online. Follow these steps to ensure your application is complete:
- Prepare Documents: Have certified PDF copies of your ID/Passport, Grade 11 results, and proof of residence.
- Pay the Fee: Pay the required application fee and save your Proof of Payment.
- Submit via Portal: Visit the VUT Online Application Portal.
