Purpose of the Role
The Customer Service Clerk (CSC) is the frontline representative of Postbank in retail partner stores. You will:
- Assist customers with starting and completing banking transactions
- Ensure all transactions are secure, compliant, and accurate
- Help customers transition from assisted services to self-service digital channels
This role serves as the bridge between traditional banking and modern digital banking solutions.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Matric (Grade 12)
Preferred / Advantageous
- NQF Level 5 or higher in Banking, Financial Services, or Customer Management
- At least 2 years of customer-facing experience in banking, retail, or financial services
- Experience as a teller, cashier, or customer service representative
Skills & Systems
- Familiarity with Postbank or similar platforms is an advantage
- Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Key Responsibilities
Customer Interaction & Support
- Welcome customers and identify their banking needs (deposits, withdrawals, balance enquiries, redemptions)
- Authenticate customers using South African ID and registered mobile number
- Ensure compliance with CIF profiles, KYC, and AML requirements
- Educate customers on digital banking solutions including mobile apps, USSD, and ATMs
Transaction Facilitation
- Assist with transactions via CSC terminals or tablets
- Generate secure barcodes or OTP slips
- Issue slips for completion at retailer tills
- Confirm transaction status and resolve issues like expired OTPs or failed validations
Operational Controls & Governance
- Track voucher lifecycle (Created → Used → Expired → Cancelled)
- Submit daily reconciliations and log exceptions
- Follow anti-fraud policies, data privacy regulations, and security protocols
Customer Education & Digital Migration
- Encourage adoption of self-service banking
- Demonstrate app usage, USSD processes, PIN resets, and device linking
Service Quality & Performance
- Maintain Postbank Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Take part in service improvement initiatives
- Ensure strict confidentiality of customer data
