Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered:

  • Be a South African citizen residing in the Eastern Cape Province
  • Have obtained a National Senior Certificate with admission to a Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma
  • Be studying towards an undergraduate qualification at NQF Level 6 or 7 with a minimum of 360 credits
  • Be registered or accepted at a public tertiary institution
  • Demonstrate financial need through proof of household income
  • Total household income must not exceed R467 790 per annum
  • Provide valid proof of residence

Minimum Academic Achievement Levels

Where applicable, applicants must meet the following minimum National Senior Certificate achievement levels:

  • English Home Language or First Additional Language: Level 5 or Level 4
  • Mathematics: Level 5
  • Mathematical Literacy: Level 6
  • Accounting: Level 6
  • Economics: Level 6

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit an application letter quoting the reference ECPT/BURSARIES/2026, together with certified copies of the following documents:

  • Letter of admission or registration
  • South African ID document
  • Final academic results
  • Parents’ or guardian’s proof of income
  • Proof of residence

If parents are deceased, applicants must also submit certified copies of death certificates and an affidavit confirming the legal guardian.

Applicants living with disabilities must clearly indicate the nature of the disability and attach relevant supporting documentation.
