Exxaro Resources, one of South Africa’s leading diversified mining and renewable energy companies, has officially opened its 2026 Graduate Internship Programme for the Belfast operation in Mpumalanga.
This is a 24-month structured Professional-in-Training (PIT) contract designed to transition top-tier graduates into industry specialists. 🎓 The Student Desk Guide: How to Actually Get In
To succeed in the Exxaro 2026 intake, you must pass a four-stage selection process:
- Academic Screening: You must have a completed National Diploma or B-Degree in your field.
- Psychometric Assessment: Exxaro uses these tests to measure your problem-solving and cognitive skills. Tip: Practice “Spatial Reasoning” and “Verbal Logic” tests before you are called.
- Medical Fitness: Because this is a mining environment, you must pass a Medical Certificate of Fitness conducted by Exxaro.
- Community Preference: Preference is given to applicants from the Emakhazeni Municipality (host community). If you live in this area, ensure your proof of residence is clearly attached.

Applications are currently open for graduates in the following disciplines:
- Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, and Mining Engineering.
- Business: Finance, Accounting, and Human Resource Management.
- Supply Chain: Supply Chain Management or Logistics.
- Specialist: Occupational Hygiene, Community Development, and Data Science.
Requirements for 2026 Applicants
- Age: Must be younger than 35 years.
- Education: Relevant Diploma or Degree (Pure Maths/Science background for Engineering roles).
- License: A valid Driver’s License is a significant advantage for operational roles.
- Status: Unemployed South African citizen with no previous internship experience in the same field.
