🎓 Student Desk Expert Guide: The Trimester 2 “Engineering” Strategy
Trimester 2 is almost exclusively for NATED (Report 191) Engineering. Here is what you need to know to secure your placement:
- The NATED vs. NCV Choice: Trimester intakes are for NATED courses (N4–N6), which are shorter, 3-month theory blocks. If you are looking for NCV (Level 2–4), you generally have to wait for the January 2027 intake.
- Maths & Science are Non-Negotiable: To enter N4 Engineering, you must have a National Senior Certificate (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science. Most colleges strictly require pure Mathematics.
- The NSFAS “Gap”: Unlike Semester 1, the NSFAS window for Trimester 2 is very short—only 12 days. Do not wait for the college to accept you before preparing your NSFAS documents; apply the moment that window opens!
