🚀 Student Desk Expert Insight: The 18.2 Learnership Path

Becoming an Artisan in the mining sector is a highly stable career path. Here is how this De Beers opportunity is structured:

  • Local Preference: This is a strictly “Local-to-Local” recruitment drive. You must provide a formal letter from your Municipality or Tribal Council confirming you reside in Blouberg or Musina. Applications without this specific proof of residence will be rejected.
  • The “Red Ticket”: Mining is physically demanding. You will undergo a rigorous medical assessment on the mine. If you have underlying health issues that affect your fitness for underground work, you may struggle to obtain the required “Red Ticket.”
  • Section 18.2 vs 18.1: Section 18.2 is for unemployed youth (9 spots), while 18.1 is reserved for existing Venetia employees (1 spot).
