NWU Registration 2026 Still Open – Final Opportunity for Outstanding Students (5–6 February)

North-West University has opened 2026 registrations for first-year, senior and postgraduate students. See faculty dates, final registration window, and how to register before spaces fill up.

North-West University (NWU) has officially opened registrations for the 2026 academic year. Both first-year and senior students, across contact and distance learning modes, are urged to register as soon as possible to secure their place.

Registration at NWU is strictly capacity-based. Once a qualification reaches its limit, no additional registrations will be accepted. Because of this, early action is critical for all students who still need to complete their registration.

This update covers confirmed registration dates, faculty-specific schedules, and the final opportunity available to students who may have missed their allocated window.

Registration Dates for First-Year Students

All faculties follow the same registration period for first-year students, whether studying via contact or distance learning.

Registration opens on 19 January 2026 and closes on 7 February 2026, subject to qualification capacity.

First-year students are advised to monitor official NWU communication platforms regularly, as certain programmes may close earlier once capacity is reached.

Registration Dates for Senior Students

Returning and senior students must follow faculty-specific registration dates to ensure an orderly process.

Early Returns

Students returning early due to academic reasons or student leadership responsibilities may register on 19 January 2026.

Final Registration Opportunity for Outstanding Students

Students who miss their allocated faculty dates will have one final chance to register.

The final registration window runs from 5 to 6 February 2026.

Registration during this period is subject to approval and available space. Students are strongly advised not to rely on this final window, as qualifications may already be full by then.

Registration for Honours, Master’s and PhD Students

Postgraduate students are granted a longer registration period.

Honours, Master’s and PhD registrations are open from 20 January to 31 March 2026.

Postgraduate candidates should ensure that all faculty requirements are met before registering. This includes supervisor approval, academic clearance, and confirmed funding where applicable.

Important Registration Tips

Always check official NWU announcements and student portals for real-time updates.

Ensure that all academic, administrative, and financial requirements are fully met before attempting to register.

Register as early as possible to avoid disappointment due to capacity limits.

Distance learning students should confirm online access and module availability before submitting their registration.

Where to Register

All registrations must be completed online through the official NWU registration platform: https://studies.nwu.ac.za/studies/registration

Final Reminder

NWU’s 2026 registration process is structured, competitive, and time-sensitive. Missing your allocated registration window could delay or prevent your enrolment for the academic year.
