🚀 Student Desk Expert Insight: Why Sappi is a “Career Goldmine”
This isn’t just a scholarship; it’s a pre-employment contract.
- The EIT Guarantee: Unlike other bursaries where you graduate and have to look for a job, Sappi bursars get “front-of-the-line” access to the Sappi Engineer-in-Training programme. This is a 2-year structured training period that helps you register as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
- Vacation Work: You will be required to do vacation work in July and December. This is where you get your hands dirty at mills like Saiccor (KZN) or Ngodwana (Mpumalanga), earning practical hours that look incredible on a CV.
- Location Preference: Sappi explicitly states that they give preference to students living near their operations. If you are from Umkomaas, Mandeni, Nelspruit, or Springs, you have a significantly higher chance of being selected.
