🚀 Student Desk Expert Insight: The Path to Becoming a Red Seal Artisan
Becoming an electrician in a mining environment is vastly different from residential work. Here is how Valterra Platinum prepares you for the industrial world:
- Mining Grade Electrical: You won’t just be fixing light switches. Mining electricians work with heavy-duty machinery, high-voltage transformers, and complex smelting/refining circuits. This experience makes you highly employable in any industrial sector globally.
- The “18.2” Status: In South African learnership terms, “18.2” refers to an unemployed individual who is hired specifically for a training contract. This means the company pays for your training and provides a stipend.
- Operational Excellence: Valterra Platinum is now an independent, publicly listed company. Training with them means you are learning the latest sustainability and safety standards in the PGM value chain.
